Gourmet Style Introduction

Here in the Islands, our Hawai'i Regional Cuisine receives international accolades, as it celebrates both our cultural diversity and the bounty of our land and ocean.

At American Express, we're proud to support Hawai'i's extraordinary restaurants along with HONOLULU Magazine's prestigious Hale 'Aina Awards that honor them. At the same time, we're pleased to help bring you this special "Gourmet Style" section, created to help you bring the unique character and flavors of Hawai'i Regional Cuisine to meals you can prepare at home to share at gatherings with friends and family.

As writer Joan Namkoong notes, "The best hosts are like ducks: paddling furiously below the water, but calm and serene on the surface of the water." All of the dishes in "The Ultimate Summer Party" menu are designed to be prepared ahead, so that by the time guests arrive, you can relax and enjoy the evening with them - with a minimum of "paddling." Also featured in the section are helpful party-planning ideas, tips for setting an elegant table and expert advice on choosing wines sure to complement the flavors of the menu.

American Express is proud to support fine living in all its forms. It's part of our ongoing commitment to helping you achieve all the rewards life has to offer.
