Emissary in Art
|
While Hawaii athletes trained for this month’s Olympic games, some of Waianae artist Mark Kadota’s work was already on display in Beijing at the Today Art Museum. The exhibition “World One Minutes” was part of the city’s official cultural program for the Olympic games. It featured videos from 90 countries, including a piece titled “Yes” by Kadota. The video consists of broken sentences floating across a blurred image of the artist himself, which Kadota says is an examination of “the interior dialogue that goes on in one’s mind.” Although the exhibit wrapped up in June, you can still view Kadota’s video (at left) at www.markkadota.com.
